Health Visiting And Child Health And Well Baby Clinic
Together with the health visitors, employed by the Primary Care Trust, we undertake all child health promotion and surveillance. The health visitors hold a child health and well baby clinic on Friday mornings at present, to be reviewed and are available by appointment at other times at Teddington Clinic.
Health visitors specialise in the under fives but also offer health information and advice for all the family.
Immunisations/Vaccinations
We offer the full range of immunisations for children and adults including tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, Hib, polio, MMR, rubella and meningitis as well as travel vaccinations (see below). For all other childhood immunisations please make an appointment with the health visitor or practice nurse.
Contraception
We offer a range of contraceptive services including pills, coils and emergency contraception (which must be taken within 72 hours). Patients requiring cap fitting will need to attend a family planning clinic but subsequent checking can be carried out by one of our nurses.
Maternity
Conception counselling, antenatal and postnatal care is provided by the doctors during normal surgery hours.
Travel Vaccinations And advice
Please book an appointment with our practice nurse to discuss these between four and six weeks before you are due to travel. Some vaccinations will be charged for (price list available in reception). We are a registered Yellow Fever centre. Please ask the nurse for details.
Chronic Disease Care - Diabetes, Asthma, Hypertension
We aim to review all patients with one of these conditions at least once a year. Please make an initial appointment through reception.
Cryotherapy
Dr Wright holds a fortnightly cryotherapy surgery on a Thursday afternoon for the treatment by freezing of warts, verrucas and other minor skin lesions.
Private Medical Services
Some medical services are not available on the NHS and a charge is made for these. This includes medical and travel insurance claim forms, private medical certificates, private prescriptions (eg for Malaria Prophylaxis) or signing driving licence applications and various special examinations for sport, schools, employment and some licences such as HGV. We are no longer able to sign passport applications.
A list of current charges as recommended by the British Medical Association is available at reception. Appointments for special medical examinations are held outside of normal surgery hours and can be arranged at reception.
Flu Clinics
Flu Clinics by appointments only every Thursday between 12 and 2pm until 22nd November. We have plenty of vaccines so no need to panic. “Worried well” people who want to have flu jab can go to the Maple Leaf Pharmacy on Twickenham Green for a fee (020-8894 5034).
